Computer Lab: Hardware Equipment

My latest system is an Athlon Tower, on which I am testing and setting up the AmigaOSXL emulator package:

  • Haage&Partner Big-Tower 1800+
    • OS: AmigaOS 3.9.2 for AmigaOSXL and QNX 6.1.0
    • CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1800+ with 1,533 GHz on an Elitegroup K7S5A motherboard
    • RAM: 256 MB DDR
    • Graphics board: nVidia GeForce2 MX 400 64 MB (AGP) with TV-Out
    • Sound card: Creative SoundBlaster128 (PCI)
    • Network card: Ethernet 10 Mbit (PCI)
    • FDD: internal drive with 1.44 MB capacity
    • HD: IBM Deskstar 40 GB, 7200 U (U-ATA 100)
    • DVD-ROM: LG 16x DVD / 40x CD-ROM (IDE)
    • Writer: LiteOn 24x CD-R / 10x CD-RW / 40x CD-ROM (IDE)
  • Head TA998N 19" monitor
  • I/O-Devices: Logitech Cordless Desktop iTouch (cordless Keyboard and Mouse, connected with 2 PS/2 plugs)

Have also a look at my report about Experiences with AmigaOSXL.

Meanwhile, the Athlon-Tower has replaced the Amiga 4000 nearly completely. Until 2002, I worked with a computer system that has the following specifications:

  • Amiga 4000
    • OS: AmigaOS 3.9
    • CPU: Motorola MC68040 at 25 MHz on a standard Amiga 3640 processor board
    • RAM: 18 MB (2 MB Chip-RAM & 16 MB Fast-RAM)
    • SCSI: Fastlane Z3 SCSI-2 host
    • active Audio Mixer (Amiga/CD), connected to a stereo sound system
    • Graphics board: CyberVision 64/3D 4 MB
    • Multi-i/o board: IOBlix 1.3
    • FDD: internal Amtrade A357 drive with 1.76 MB capacity
    • HD: Quantum Pro Drive LPS 340 with 340 MB capacity (SCSI-2)
    • CD-ROM: Pioneer DR-U06 S drive with 32x speed (SCSI)
  • Amiga 1010 external FDD with 880 kB capacity
  • Iomega ZIP 100 external drive for removable disks with aproximately 100 MB capacity (SCSI)
  • Mustek ScanExpress 6000 SP flat bed scanner (SCSI)
  • Canon BJC-600 inkjet color printer (parallel)
  • AcerModem 56 Surf external MODEM (serial via IOBlix)
  • ... and I am still using the original ergonomic Amiga mouse!!!

Also, my equipment includes the following hardware, which is currently not in use:

  • Amiga 500
    • OS: AmigaOS 1.3.2
    • CPU: Motorola MC68000 at 7 MHz
    • RAM: 512 kB Chip-RAM and an internal Amiga 501 512 kB Fast-RAM extension
    • FDD: internal drive with 880 kB capacity
  • Amiga 1011 external FDD with 880 kB capacity
  • Amiga 1084S 14" monitor with stereo sound
  • Commodore MPS 1500 C matrix color printer (parallel)
